It took a wedding gig to see that baby's breath is a waste of space.
I mean, it adds bulk but no real beauty. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather use more greens instead.

My cousin's wedding last spring had baby's breath in every single centerpiece, like fifteen of them. I always figured pros used it for a reason, but honestly it just looks like a filler for when you run out of ideas. My own sad attempts at flower arranging probably prove that point, since I manage to kill even the hardiest greens. Maybe that's why I'm so bitter about it, the stuff survives my black thumb but adds zero style.

Yeah, baby's breath is the floral equivalent of that one friend who shows up to every party but never brings anything. I tried to use it in a vase once, and it looked so sad even the succulents felt sorry for me. It's like the plant world's participation trophy, just there to take up space. My mom says it's cheap, but I think it's just lazy design. Maybe we should all just embrace our black thumbs and stick to silk flowers.

Where did this idea come from that baby's breath is some elegant choice? I went to a wedding where it was dumped in cloudy mason jars, and it just looked like a science experiment gone wrong. It does feel like a cheap filler, you're right about that. A few small roses or even some ivy would have looked so much better. I guess some folks just get stuck in a rut.
