Showerthought: Putting in vinyl plank used to need a steady hand and some thinking. Now it's all click and go, feels like I'm just playing with big Legos.

In my experience, the old method required a level of precision I simply do not possess. My first DIY floor had gaps so wide you could lose small toys in them, and I called it a 'ventilation feature'. These new click planks are forgiving enough for someone like me to not ruin an entire weekend project. I almost feel competent, which is a dangerous new feeling in home repair. Granted, I did somehow install a section under the couch where it clicks but also bounces, so the learning curve is still there.

Ugh, I totally get the bouncy floor thing. I mean, my first click floor had a spot like that near the wall. Idk, I just took it apart and redid that section, and it helped maybe?

Wait, you put flooring under the couch that bounces? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I had a friend who did that and every time someone sat down, the whole couch would wobble. It made the room feel cheap and unstable. How did you even get it to click but still bounce? That takes some serious DIY luck, and not the good kind. I'd be worried about the planks coming loose over time.
