Can we talk about the old timer who told me to wet cut everything
Last month I was installing some pretty tough porcelain tile in a kitchen remodel over in Arlington. This old school guy at the supply house said I should wet cut all my tiles even for small jobs. I always thought it was a waste of time for simple straight cuts, so I brushed him off. Halfway through the job I had three tiles chip on me and had to run back for replacements. Has anyone else had better luck with wet cutting over dry cutting?

3 chipped tiles later and now you're a wet cut believer.

3 chipped tiles later and now you're a wet cut believer." I don't know man, three chipped tiles sounds like a bad day but not exactly the end of the world. I've dry cut plenty of tiles and gotten by fine with a little patience and a decent blade. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe some of us are better at finessing the dry cuts. Seems like a lot of people get dramatic about this stuff like it's some life changing revelation.

I was in the same boat as you until I tried it on a job that went sideways. @hugo_robinson25 is right, three chipped tiles is a hard way to learn. For me it was a bathroom floor where every cut had to be perfect, and dry cutting kept leaving little rough edges. Now I only dry cut if I'm doing a quick fix and don't care about the look. Have you noticed your blades lasting longer with a wet saw too?
