Sauerkraut helped my muscle strain more than pills did

I strained my back and relied on pain meds at first. After adding fermented cabbage to my meals, the inflammation went down faster. Do fermented foods really speed up healing?

Absolutely agree with you and @vera514 on this! I messed up my knee hiking and tried all the usual stuff first. Adding kefir and sour pickles to my diet made a HUGE difference in how fast I could walk again. It really seems like those good bacteria calm everything down inside. My recovery felt smoother and more complete with fermented foods in the mix. I'm a total believer now for any ache or strain.

Consider fermented veggies before workouts to prevent injuries.

Remember hearing on a radio show that fermented foods can fight inflammation. The host explained how good bacteria from foods like sauerkraut help your body heal. It lines up with what you said about your back feeling better. I read a book that talked about gut health being linked to less pain and faster recovery. After my husband had shoulder surgery, we added yogurt and pickles to his diet, and he needed fewer pain pills. It might be worth trying for other types of injuries too.
