Spent $400 on a post hole digger attachment and it was a total game changer
I got a hydraulic auger that fits on my skid steer for a big job with over 80 posts. It cut my digging time in half on that rocky soil. I was worried it was a lot of money up front, but it paid for itself in two jobs. Anyone else have a tool that seemed pricey but was totally worth it?

I used to be the guy who would just rent the tool for the weekend. The math never seemed to work out for buying my own. Seeing your post makes me reconsider that whole idea. Paying for itself in two jobs is a serious argument for just owning the right gear. It sounds like that rocky soil would have been a nightmare without it.

Read an article about that exact rental trap last week.

What kind of tools were you renting the most? I hit that point with a good drill. After the third rental fee, I just bought one. Now I use it for tiny stuff all the time, stuff I never would have rented for.
