Treat it like any other weird interaction and just say no thanks. Being direct saves you from the awkward dance of figuring out their motives later. Why make it more complicated than it needs to be?

Totally agree, being direct cuts the mental spiral short. I used to waste time guessing if someone was being nice or had an agenda, now a simple "no thanks" solves it. Overthinking just gives the weirdness more power than it deserves.
