That time my entire hemline came undone at a college fashion show

I mean, it was my final project for a design class in Portland, and I was backstage about 10 minutes before my model was supposed to walk. I noticed the entire rolled hem on a silk skirt had just given up and was fraying everywhere. I didn't have a machine, so I had to hand-stitch the whole thing with a tiny needle while my hands were shaking. It held for the walk, but it was a mess up close. Has anyone else had a last-minute fabric disaster and what did you do?

Honestly though, was it even that big of a deal? It was a college show, not Paris Fashion Week. The audience is way too far away to see a messy hem. Sounds like you fixed it well enough to get through. People stress way too much over tiny details no one will ever notice.

Oh man, my sewing disasters make that look like a pro job.

But what if the judges or a potential employer were up close after the show?
