Just left a gas station in rural Georgia and saw something that made me pull over again

I was driving through Commodore, Georgia last weekend and stopped at a dusty BP station to refill. The guy pumping diesel next to me was pulling 40 gallons for his truck and he told me to double check the nozzle before I start - said he once got 5 gallons of wrong fuel because someone swapped the handle. I walked inside and the clerk confirmed they had two mix ups in the last month alone. Has anyone else nearly gotten the wrong fuel type at a sketchy pump?

Has anyone actually had a pump spit out the wrong fuel on them, or is it more of a "my buddy's cousin said" kind of thing? I've been at some sketchy stations in rural Tennessee and never had a problem, sounds like the guy was just being extra cautious.

Nah, I've actually had diesel come out of a regular gas nozzle once. It happens.

I believe you, @the_jessica, I've filled up at some sketchy places myself and never had a problem either. It's probably just one of those stories people tell to feel smart, not something that actually happens.
