Am I the only one who skips the double cleanse when clients have super dry skin?
I had a client last Thursday with flaky patches around her nose and I just used a cream cleanser once instead of doing oil then foam. Her skin looked way less irritated after. Does anyone else adjust their routine based on the day or am I breaking some rule?

Oh totally, I'd argue skipping the oil step on dry skin is actually smarter than what most textbooks say. In my experience, double cleansing can strip those already fragile barrier lipids if you're not careful with your product choices.

Three years with dry skin and I never oil cleanse.

Oh man, are we really acting like one skipped oil cleanse is a crime against esthetics now? I swear this industry loves making simple stuff sound way more complicated than it actually is. Your client's skin looked less irritated, so clearly you did the right thing. It's not like you've got some skincare police watching your every move, ready to revoke your license if you don't follow the exact textbook steps every single time. Sometimes common sense beats what some book says, you know?
