Can we talk about that new safety sensor on the Otis Gen2?
Had one fail open on a call downtown yesterday, car wouldn't move. Had to bypass it with a jumper to get the car to the landing, which felt wrong but the tenant was stuck. Anyone else run into this yet?

Honestly I used to just jump whatever sensor was blinking... until I saw a controller board get cooked doing that. Now I always check the manual first, even if someone's waiting. It takes two minutes and saves a huge headache later.

The real cost isn't just the board. It's the downtime waiting for the part to ship. Our store was without a key machine for a week because a tech bypassed the wrong sensor on a Tuesday. That lost business adds up fast.

Check which sensor you bypassed, because the Gen2 has a few. Jumping the wrong one can fry the controller board. Always pull the maintenance log first.
