Reading an old code book from the 80s and one rule blew my mind
Found my grandpa's NEC book from 1984. The ampacity for 12-gauge NM cable was 20 amps back then, not 15. That changes how you look at a lot of old wiring. Anyone else run into old codes that would fail today?

Guess grandpa's house was running on pure optimism.

That old house probably thought positive thoughts were a valid energy source. The wiring was held together by duct tape and hope. Honestly, it's a miracle the place didn't just politely catch fire one day. Some real "if we don't look at it, it's fine" logic going on there.

My aunt's porch light was powered by sheer willpower.
