My boss laughed when I skipped pre-twisting, but now he does it too

I always pre-twisted wires before putting on wire nuts. On a tight job, I tried leaving them straight to save minutes. Every connection was solid and it passed code fine. I think this step is often wasted effort with modern parts. Now I only twist for big motors or sketchy old boxes.

So your boss actually changed his mind on this?

Newer boxes and plated screws hold way better. Makes the old tight-twist habit kind of pointless unless things are really worn out.

Last upgrade in a commercial kitchen. I get where @emery_park93 is coming from with modern parts. But people forget about grease and heat. It breaks down everything over months. That initial tight twist fights the slow creep. So in messy real world spots, the habit still matters. Not just for old gear.
