Realized I was filling my feeder wrong for 2 years
Woke up early last Saturday and noticed the sparrows were just throwing seed everywhere off my tube feeder. Watched them for like 20 minutes and it hit me - I had been filling it all the way to the top every time. The seed at the bottom was getting damp and moldy. The birds were basically digging through garbage to get to the fresh stuff on top. Now I only fill it halfway and refill more often. No more wasted seed and the birds seem way happier. Anyone else make this mistake?

Thought I knew what I was doing with my feeder but this actually makes way more sense.

Hold up, are we really acting like feeder timing is this huge life-or-death decision? I've been using the same basic schedule for years and my birds don't seem to care if it's "backwards" or not. They just want the food to show up, you know? Unless you're dealing with some super specific feeder that has to be calibrated for migratory patterns or something, I feel like people just overthink this stuff. Give them some seed, change the schedule when it runs out, done deal.

Wait, are you saying the whole timing schedule thing is totally backwards from what most people think? @drewgonzalez I feel like everyone I know sets their feeder up one way and then realizes they've been overcomplicating it this whole time.
