Took me 4 years to realize I was overfolding my dumpling wrappers

Ngl, I thought tight folds made them look professional until my grandma watched me wrap one and laughed, then showed me her relaxed pinching method that actually holds the filling in way better. Has anyone else had that moment where a relative casually schooled you on something you'd been doing backwards the whole time?

My father in law caught me trying to fix a leaky faucet with way too much teflon tape about six years ago. I had wrapped that pipe so many times it looked like a little white football. He just shook his head, unwound it all, and put on maybe three wraps. Worked perfectly. All that time I figured more tape meant a better seal but really it just made things worse and pushed the fitting out of round. Older folks have a way of cutting through all the overthinking we do.

Three wraps is the magic number for most standard threads. Exposed to some high pressure steam fittings at my old job, they use a paste instead of tape entirely. Different worlds.

Funny how that goes. @young.nora mentioned the same thing with thread wraps - three layers is all it takes. Used to think piling it on was better too but I've seen the light now.
