Wasted $800 on a fancy auto-dredge controller, not worth it

Bought one of those high-end automated depth control systems for my dredge last spring, thought it would save me headaches. Ended up spending more time calibrating the thing than actually working, and it still let me suck up a boulder that bent my cutter head. Anyone else ditched the tech and gone back to manual?

Man, I feel your pain on this one. I tried a similar setup last year and it was nothing but headaches, ended up spending more time messing with settings than actually running the dredge. Sometimes the old manual way is just more reliable and way less frustrating.

Nodding along with @jana_hart18 cause I see this same thing everywhere now. Tried a smart thermostat last winter and it fought me for weeks before I just set it to one temp and never touched the app again. Sometimes the fancy tech just adds extra steps to stuff that used to be simple. The manual way might take a bit more arm grease but at least you know its gonna work when you need it.
