That used cutterhead I picked up for $800 had me doubting used gear
I always figured buying used cutterheads was asking for trouble. Then my regular supplier quoted me $2,400 for a new one. Found a guy in Baton Rouge selling a 14 inch one that looked barely used. After 6 weeks on the job it's cutting just as clean. Has anyone else had good luck with used cutterheads or am I just lucky?

Six weeks? That cutterhead should've self destructed by now.

Respectfully disagree mate. I've seen these things run 10 weeks easy if you're not pounding through rock all day.

Didn't someone post a video last week of a cutterhead that ran 8 weeks straight in mixed ground? I swear it was on the tunneling forum. Six weeks might be pushing it for some of the older models though, especially if you're not doing regular checks on the cooling system. That's usually what goes first, not the cutting edge itself.
