Hit a submerged car frame yesterday on the Mississippi River job

I was running a 12-inch cutterhead dredge near Baton Rouge yesterday and the suction just died. Thought it was a plug but after 45 minutes of backflushing I found a whole car frame wedged in the ladder. Must have been dumped there years ago. Scraped up the cutter teeth pretty bad and cost me half a shift of downtime. I rigged a grapple hook setup to pull it out but man what a headache. Anyone else deal with hidden junk like that on river jobs?

You sure a car frame is worth 45 minutes of troubleshooting? Sounds like you got a good story out of it at least.

Heck yeah, spent almost an hour pulling an old washing machine out of a creek bed last spring!

Ain't it fun when the river gives you a car for a souvenir?
