Why does nobody talk about the time sink of fixing a corrupted .dwg file from a client?

Spent my entire Friday, like 7 hours straight, trying to salvage a drawing from a structural engineer that kept crashing AutoCAD 2023. Anyone have a go-to recovery method that actually works?

Actually, it's a .dwg file, not a .dwg.

Wait, the file extension is the same both times. Is this about how some people say "dot D W G" and others say "dwig"? That pronunciation war in CAD offices is real. I've seen people get genuinely upset over it.

The worst part is when you have to say it out loud to a client. I once had a project manager correct me three times in one call, insisting it's "dwig" like it's some kind of moral failing to say the letters. It's a file extension, not a religion. The same people lose their minds over "JIF" vs "GIF" too. Just let people say it how they learned it and move on with the actual work.
