Shoutout to the free online CAD course that saved me from a $500 mistake

I bought a high-end drafting tablet last year thinking it would speed up my workflow, but the learning curve was so steep it sat unused for months. On one hand, the hardware is top quality, but on the other, the time I lost trying to self-teach was a real cost. Has anyone else invested in gear that ended up being more trouble than it was worth?

My expensive camera gear became a fancy paperweight for a year.

What finally got you to pick it back up again?

Ugh, my fancy microphone was the same way for me.

Used to believe expensive tools automatically made you better at something. That free CAD course was a wake up call, totally get what @stellanelson is saying about gear gathering dust. My own wallet still hurts from a pro video editing keyboard I barely touch now. Sometimes the simpler or free resource is what actually gets the job done, right?
