Appreciation post: The old blueprints in the Boston library basement changed how I see my own work

Spent an hour looking at hand-drawn sewer plans from 1923, and the detail in those ink lines made my CAD work feel rushed. Anyone else find inspiration in old drafting methods?

Maybe try sketching a quick paper draft first next time.

CAD isn't rushed, it's just different.

My grandpa's 1958 mechanical pencil set is still on my desk. He could draft a whole house plan without a single eraser mark. The physical skill in that feels lost now. Makes me wonder what we trade for speed.
