Pro tip my grandpa gave me about garden dirt saved my whole season
He said to just dump coffee grounds around the tomatoes without worrying about pH. I thought he was full of it but I tried it last spring and my plants grew twice as big as the year before. Has anyone else gotten weird advice from an older relative that actually worked?

Ha! Yeah my grandma swore by tossing eggshells in the bottom of the hole before planting peppers. I thought she was just being old and crazy but I tried it last year and those plants went nuts. Same thing with putting a banana peel in the hole when you plant tomatoes. Sounds weird but the potassium seems to kick them into gear. I figure the old folks might not know the science behind it but they spent enough years watching things grow to pick up what works.

Tried my uncle's advice to plant by the full moon and felt like a goof, but it actually worked.
