Why does nobody warn you about banking apps locking you out abroad
Sitting in a cafe in Medellin on a Tuesday morning, I tried to pay my rent back home and my bank flagged the transfer as fraud. It took 3 calls and a video chat with a rep named Denise before they turned my account back on, and she said next time I should warn them before I fly. Has anyone found a bank that actually gets nomad life, or do you just call ahead like she said?
Wait, Denise really said you have to CALL before you fly? That's insane, it's 2024, my bank knows I'm in Colombia the second my card gets swiped. You should be able to just flag your travel dates in the app like a normal human.
