Thought coworking spaces were a scam until I did the math

I spent 3 months working from a coffee shop in Chiang Mai and bought $8 lattes just to sit there. Added it up and I was dropping $240 a month for bad wifi and cold drinks. Finally tried a $150 monthly desk at Punspace and got fiber internet plus free water. Has anyone else found coworking actually cheaper than the cafe hustle?

Right, because warm overpriced milk is a great investment strategy.

Did you end up going to that place on Pine Street too? I made the mistake of walking in last month and paid almost nine dollars for a latte that tasted like they forgot to add the espresso. Not to mention the guy behind the counter gave me a lecture on bean origins when I just wanted my coffee. At that price point I could have bought a whole bag of decent beans and made a pot at home. It feels like these shops are banking on the idea that expensive equals fancy and we're all just supposed to smile and pay it.

Man I used to be the biggest hater of coworking spaces. Thought they were just overpriced WeWork knockoffs for people who wanted to flex on Instagram. But after three months of burning cash on $6 cold brew at some "artisan" spot where the wifi cut out every 20 minutes, I finally caved and got a $130 desk at a local spot. Been two months now and I've saved enough on drinks alone to cover a few extra happy hours. Plus nobody gives me side eye if I sit there for five hours nursing a single water bottle.
