Wasted $400 on a Chinese injector puller that snapped on the second job

Bought this cheap puller set off Amazon thinking I was saving money. First injector came out fine, but the second one in a 6.0 Powerstroke seized up and the tool twisted like butter. Ended up having to drill out the injector and buy a proper OTC puller for $250. Would have been cheaper to just borrow the good one from a buddy in the first place. Any of you guys had a harbor freight tool let you down on a critical job?

Read somewhere that these Chinese tools are often made of cast metal instead of forged steel, makes all the difference under real load. Had a Harbor Freight ratchet snap on me once changing a tire, learned my lesson about buying cheap for heavy work. Borrowing the right tool from a buddy is always the smart move, even if it hurts the pride a little.

Honestly the whole cast vs forged debate misses something bigger. Even the best forged steel tool is only as good as its heat treat, which is where most budget brands skimp out. A buddy of mine works in a machine shop and says he's seen name brand sockets crack because the tempering was rushed.

Yeah I used to be one of those guys who thought forged was everything and heat treat was some nerdy detail nobody needed to worry about. But after watching a buddy’s Snap-on ratchet literally split in half on a seized bolt, I started paying attention. He sent it back and the replacement has been fine, but it made me realize even the expensive stuff can have bad days if the tempering was rushed or done wrong. So now I’m a lot more careful about checking reviews for heat treat issues rather than just assuming forged equals indestructible.
