My neighbor swore a broken toaster makes the best toast

Mrs. Gable from 2B told me last Tuesday that her busted 15-year-old toaster with one dead slot makes toast that's 'crispy on the outside, soft in the middle' and she wont trade it for anything. I laughed, then she let me try a slice - she was totally right, that thing cooks uneven but perfect somehow. Anyone else got a busted gadget they refuse to swap because it works better broken?

Gently point out that your microwave leaking steam is actually a fire hazard, not a feature. That sparking you mentioned is a serious sign something's way off with the wiring. Might be worth swapping that tape for a new microwave before it becomes a bigger problem than soggy leftovers.

Used to think she was just being stubborn but now I get it. My old blender has a broken lid and wobbles like crazy but makes smoother smoothies than any new one I've tried.

...and honestly I've got the same thing going on with my old microwave. The door doesn't quite seal right so it leaks steam but that actually keeps my leftovers from getting soggy. I just put a piece of tape over the corner to stop the sparking and it works perfect for reheating casseroles. My son got me a fancy new one for Christmas and I tried it for a week but everything came out rubbery or dried out. Ended up putting the old one back in the garage because sometimes broken is just better engineered for real life, you know?
