Hot take: I hit 50 swapped items this month and it changed my mind about hoarding
So I joined this group a few months back just to get rid of a dusty bread maker I used once. Then I swapped a stack of old cookbooks for a set of wine glasses. Then a lamp for a board game. Before I knew it, I counted up my swaps last night and I hit exactly 50 items traded out this month. That number shook me because I always thought I needed to keep stuff just in case. But seeing 50 things leave my house and not miss a single one convinced me I was holding onto junk for no reason. Now I'm going through my closet with a way lighter mindset. Has anyone else hit a swap count that made them rethink their whole approach to stuff?

Wait, did you count 50 or did you round up from like 47? Because I had to double check my own pile last week and I was SHOCKED at how many things I've traded out just from impulse buys I forgot I owned. I once swapped a fancy espresso machine I bought after a breakup for a pair of boots that didn't fit, and my only thought was "well at least now I have LESS guilt sitting on my counter." The real kicker is I still walk past that boot spot in my closet and I barely remember the espresso machine existed. Honestly, hitting that number just proves we're all hoarders with a side of terrible decision making.

Hell yeah, I read somewhere that most people use less than 20 percent of their stuff regularly, so swapping out 50 things makes total sense. That bread maker story is a classic example of keeping stuff "just in case" that never gets used. Sounds like you broke the cycle.
