Had to pick between a $5 mug with a chip and a $12 perfect one at the flea market last Sunday
I went with the chipped one because the glaze pattern was exactly like my grandma's old set, and honestly the tiny chip just gives it character. Has anyone else grabbed a flawed piece on purpose and regretted it later?

Grabbed a vintage Pyrex bowl with a hairline crack once because the color was impossible to find. Ended up tossing it after a few months when the crack got worse and started leaking. The chip on a mug is usually harmless though, especially if it's not near the rim where you drink from. Just keep an eye on it, those tiny flaws can spread over time with hot liquids.

Funny you mention that, I had a similar situation with a thrifted Corningware dish that had this tiny little star crack in the corner. Figured it was fine for baking, but one day it just split right down the middle in the oven (made a huge mess). These older glass pieces are tough but they definitely have their breaking points, literally.
