My worst shift ever turned into a total comedy show
I had this ONE night last Tuesday that started with a code blue at 2 AM and went downhill from there. By 4 AM, I had coffee spilled down my scrubs AND a patient's pet bird somehow got loose in the hallway. The bird landed on the charge nurse's head and she just stood there frozen for a solid 10 seconds. I laughed so hard I almost forgot I was soaked in caffeine. Has anyone else had a shift where everything went wrong but ended up hilarious?

oh man, that bird story is too good. i had a buddy who worked security at a hospital upstate and he told me about this time someone's therapy chicken got out in the ER waiting room. thing just starts pecking at the vending machine like it was trying to order a snack or something. the vending machine repair guy had to come out and they ended up capturing it with a cardboard box and a broom... took them like an hour because the chicken kept running under the chairs. the whole waiting room was recording it on their phones instead of complaining about the wait time, so i guess that's a win.

Wait, did the bird ever get caught or is it still living its best life in the hospital ceiling tiles? I need to know how this chaos resolved because that image of the charge nurse is killing me. The pet bird escape really takes this story from bad shift to legendary status.

My buddy worked at a hospital where a parrot got loose. It set up camp in the cafeteria for like three weeks. They had to take down the ceiling tiles in sections while the thing just squawked at them from above. The maintenance guy finally lured it down with a bag of sunflower seeds from the vending machine.
