My nephew asked me why his new game needed a password manager
I was helping my 12 year old nephew set up his new gaming PC last weekend, and he got confused when the store wanted a different password than his email. I told him to just write it down, but he said his teacher told the class that's how his dad got his bank account hacked in 2022. What's the simplest way you explain password security to someone that young?

That teacher is right. My little cousin got his Roblox account stolen last year from using the same password everywhere.

Wait, his teacher told the whole class how his dad got hacked? That's... really specific and kind of wild for a classroom story. I get teaching security, but sharing a real parent's financial mess with a bunch of kids feels like a lot. No wonder the kid is paranoid about writing anything down now.
