Why I stopped measuring every campaign with the same KPI after one bad review
Last March, a prospect at a fintech firm in Chicago told me our whitepaper download numbers looked great but meant nothing because we never tracked how many of those leads actually engaged with sales. I fought it for weeks, but they were right. Now I separate marketing qualified leads from actual pipeline contribution, and it changed how I report to our CEO. Has anyone else had to rebuild their whole KPI structure around one client's pushback?

One client calling you out doesn't mean your whole system was broken. Sounds like you just needed to add one more number to the report, not tear everything down. If the old KPIs still show trends over time, you can just track both and move on.
