Showerthought: the guy at the Columbus booth said my demo slide had 47 words on it, so I cut it to 6
I was showing a booth demo at a small security event in Columbus last month and a guy from another vendor just stood there for a second then said my main slide had 47 words on it. He wasn't being mean about it, he just counted out loud and asked who was supposed to read all that while I'm talking. I went back and redid the whole deck that night, cut the headline to 6 words and moved everything else into the spoken part. Turns out people actually asked questions after that instead of just nodding and walking off with a sticker. Now I keep a rule that if a slide needs a paragraph, it's really a handout, not a slide. Anyone else get gut punched by a random comment at a booth and end up changing their whole pitch because of it?
