Rant: That weird antivirus ad at the bus stop has everyone talking
On my mail route downtown, they slapped up this poster for a security company with a cartoon hacker wearing a top hat and monocle. It says 'Keep Your Data Classy' but doesn't tell you how or what the product even does. Now I hear folks at the coffee shop arguing about whether fancy hackers are a real threat. It's like marketing forgot to explain things and just went for a silly vibe.

Man, this is everywhere now. Brands are so obsessed with being catchy or cute that they skip telling you what they actually do. Last week I saw a billboard for insurance that just had a meme and a logo, no details at all. Why do they think being confusing is a good way to sell stuff?

Saw a cafe with just a smiley face sign, no clue what they sold.

Last month in Austin, a new spot opened called 'Nimbus' with just a cloud logo. It turns out they sell fancy toast, but you'd never know from the outside. This trend assumes everyone is already in the know, but it just leaves people walking by confused.
