Picked up a random tin sign from a flea market in Ohio for $5 and turns out it's a rare 1940s gas station ad worth $200.
I just grabbed it cause the colors looked cool, but after posting on a collector forum someone offered me 200 bucks for it has anyone else accidentally stumbled into something valuable like that?

Nah man you should wait a sec before jumping on that offer. A 1940s gas station sign even a tin one is worth way more than 200 bucks if it's legit. Check for a patent date or maker's mark on the back first. Got burned once selling a vintage oil can for cheap cause I didn't look it up right. Those flea market finds can be real gold if you do a tiny bit of homework. Collector forums are full of people trying to flip stuff for a quick profit off you.

Does this kind of thing just happen more often than people realize? I feel like we're all walking around surrounded by hidden treasures (or at least cool junk) that nobody notices because we're too busy looking at our phones. It's like the universe is trying to tell us to slow down and actually look at the world around us once in a while, you know?

You ever trip over something cool cause you were staring at your phone?
