Okay, I've been collecting vintage postcards for years, but I just realized I've been storing them all wrong in a shoebox in my closet. My friend's kid asked if they were 'the shiny kind' and it hit me... they're all fading.

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. I mean, you spend all that time finding them and then realize they're just sitting there getting ruined. It's not your fault though, you just didn't know. I've heard that light and even the wrong kind of paper in a box can make them fade over time. Maybe you could move them to a dark drawer or get some of those special sleeves? It's a bummer, but at least you caught it now.

My life's work, fading in a cardboard box.

Feels like we're all just trying to slow down time with the stuff we care about. I see it everywhere, from photos left on a sunny fridge to books with cracked spines from being read too much. We make these things to last, but the world just keeps moving and fading things out. Makes you want to hold on a little tighter to what's still here now.
