My entire vintage keychain display fell off the wall at 2 AM
I was up late organizing my collection of about 75 souvenir keychains from different states when the command strip holding the shadow box just gave out. Now I've got a huge mess of tangled chains and a few enamel ones got chipped. What's the best way you've found to safely hang heavier display cases?

It's just some keychains, right?

Ever tried to ship a small but oddly shaped keychain? @the_thea, the post office will hit you with a "package" fee instead of a letter stamp if it's too thick. I've had a simple enamel pin cost nearly five bucks to mail because it wouldn't bend in the envelope. Bubble mailers, tracking, and the time to run to the post office all add up fast on what seems like a simple item.

I used to trust those command strips for everything, like @the_thea probably does. After my framed concert poster collection took a dive off a plaster wall, I learned my lesson. For anything with real weight, you need to find the stud with a stud finder and use a proper wall anchor. I sunk two 75-pound rated anchors for my heavy shadow box and it hasn't budged in three years. That extra twenty minutes with a drill saves you from a 2 AM disaster.
