Grandma's vinyl trick saved me $200 on a turntable
I was about to buy a new $300 turntable because my old one kept skipping on some records. My grandma showed me to put a penny on the tonearm for extra weight and now everything plays perfect. Has anyone else tried weird fixes like that for vintage gear?

You really think a penny adds enough weight to matter? I've seen people swear by it for skipping, but I always figured it was more about luck than actual physics. Does the penny stay put or do you have to tape it down?
