My uncle swore a $15 clamp lamp would wreck my reading corner, and it did the opposite
He kept saying clamp lamps look like dorm room junk, but I clipped one to the shelf over my chair in the garage and now the whole corner glows warm at night. Has anyone else hung a light from above instead of on a side table?
Clamp lamps are seriously underrated for this. I did the same thing in my basement, clipped a cheap one to the joist above my chair and it totally changed how the space feels. Light coming from above just wraps around you different than a lamp sitting off to the side. Side table lamps always made me feel like I was reading in a spotlight, but the overhead clip one spreads it out soft. Plus you get your table space back for coffee and whatever else. Your uncle was wrong, those things punch way above their price.
