A stranger's lamp tip made my corner way warmer
Last Tuesday at a little used bookstore on 5th Ave, this older guy saw me eyeing a bare bulb reading corner and said "warm light should come from low, not high." He pointed to his own setup, a small desk lamp aimed at the wall instead of the book, and explained it bounces light without harsh shadows. I tried it that night with my $12 thrift store lamp, and now I'm wondering, has anyone else messed with aiming their light at the wall instead of straight down?

Yours truly used to think direct light was the only way to go, but now I get it. Tried bouncing mine off the wall last night and the whole room feels softer, like a cozy cave instead of an interrogation room.

Oh man, same here! I finally tried bouncing mine off the ceiling and it's like a whole new room, way better for watching movies without that harsh glare.
