Pro tip: I wasted 6 hours trying to plant trees in Stardew Valley wrong
Kept putting fruit trees right next to each other. Thought they'd grow fine. Nope. They need two spaces between each one. Didn't realize until my saplings sat there for 4 seasons. Finally replanted them right and they grew in like 3 days. Anyone else make this mistake with their orchard?

Why wouldn't you want them cramped together though? That way you maximize space and just wait them out, it's not like you're losing anything by letting them sit there.

Cramming them together actually traps moisture which makes diseases way more likely to hit you.

I actually read a study from Penn State that said packing plants too tight can lead to more disease spread because airflow gets blocked. So you might actually lose more plants in the long run if a problem hits. @morgan_martinez I get your point about using space, but my experience has been that giving them a little breathing room cuts down on mold and pests big time. It's not just about waiting it out, it's about keeping them healthy in the first place.
