Picked the chicken coop over a bigger garden in Stardew Valley

I had to choose between building a big coop for animals or expanding my garden to 100 spaces. Went with the coop because I wanted eggs every morning, but now I'm stuck feeding hay to 12 chickens and my crops are tiny. Has anyone else regretted a layout choice mid-game?

Ngl the chickens are a money pit but at least they're cute.

My neighbor paid $400 for a dog bed last week that the dog won't even lay on, and I'm not sure that's any different than buying a heat lamp for a chicken that might decide to sleep in a tree anyway. Funny how we spend money on stuff that makes no sense on paper but makes sense in our heads.

You said "money pit" and that's the truth. The feed bill alone makes me wince every time I see it, plus you gotta keep buying bedding and treating for mites and all that. But man, there's something about watching them scratch around the yard that just makes a bad day better. They got so much personality too, like each one is a little character with its own attitude. The eggs are just a bonus at this point, honestly. You ever try to calculate what each egg actually costs you?
