My winter garden looked dead until I switched to grow lights back in November

I have a little raised bed setup on my balcony in Portland that did okay all summer, but once October hit everything just stopped. Tomatoes gave up, herbs got all leggy and pale, basil basically turned to mush. So in November I bought two cheap LED grow lights off Amazon for about $35 total and set them up on a timer for 12 hours a day. Now my kale and spinach are actually producing again, and my rosemary has new shoots for the first time since September. Has anyone else had luck bringing their balcony garden back to life during the dark months, or do you just let things go dormant? I'm curious what works for other cozy gardeners.

Did you keep them on same timer all winter, or adjust as days lengthened?
