My friend swore by the beach farm layout and I finally tried it
My buddy Mark kept telling me to start a new Stardew Valley save on the beach farm. He said the extra space for crab pots and the random crates with items would be worth the lack of sprinkler space. I finally gave in three weeks ago and he was completely right. I'm getting way more fish and forage items than I ever did on the standard farm. Has anyone else found a farm layout that they were skeptical about but ended up loving?

Yeah the beach farm is definitely more of a side project farm than a main one.

I put 40 hours into my beach farm before I gave up. The lack of sprinkler space drove me crazy. I had to water everything by hand until I got enough quality sprinklers and even then I could only cover like a third of the map. Crab pots are fine but they just give you trash half the time. The crates are cool at first but after year one they stop giving anything good. I went back to the standard farm and it felt so much easier. Different strokes I guess but the beach farm just made farm chores twice as long for me.

40 hours in and you still had to water everything by hand? That sounds like a nightmare, I would have rage quit way before that. I tried the beach farm for like 10 hours and the sprinkler situation made me want to throw my controller at the wall. The crates giving nothing after year one is a good point I hadn't even thought of that.
