I finally visited a friend's island in Animal Crossing and felt weird about it

My buddy from work has been begging me to visit his New Horizons island for months, so I finally went last Sunday. He spent like 200 hours terraforming everything into a giant maze with custom paths and flower gardens everywhere. Meanwhile my island still has weeds and my house has a single bed and a stove I found in a balloon. It made me wonder if the pressure to make everything perfect in cozy games actually ruins the chill vibe. Do you guys prefer grinding for the perfect setup or just leaving things messy and relaxing?

You're comparing Animal Crossing island design to not having a fancy car or house in real life, @julia549? That's a stretch. It's a video game where you can catch fish and shake trees for furniture. If you're feeling existential dread because your friend made a maze out of flowers, maybe log off and touch some grass instead. My island looks like a disaster zone and I still sleep fine at night.

That's a great point about the pressure to make everything perfect. I notice the same thing in real life where people seem to think you need a fancy house or car to be happy when really just having a calm, comfortable space is enough.

Oh man, @julia549 you totally nailed it! I hit that same wall with my island and finally just went "good enough" and started actually living there instead of stressing over where to put the fountain. Way more fun that way.
