Shoutout to the $9 clamp light that saved my afternoon after a lamp blowout

Last Tuesday in Austin my floor lamp just died mid-zoom call, bulb popped and sparked right at 3pm. I panicked, grabbed a cheap clamp light from the garage, and clipped it to my shelf edge pointing down at my keyboard. Turns out the focused beam killed all my screen glare and made my little nook feel way more like a cozy cave than the old lamp ever did. Anyone else found a random spare light that accidentally worked better than their main setup?

Cozy cave from a clamp light, that seems like a stretch.

Three hundred dollars for a clamp light? That's what they're asking for these things on Etsy. I saw one listing that called it a "vintage industrial task lamp" and my jaw dropped. It's literally a hardware store clip with a wire cage around the bulb. My dad has one in his garage that he uses when he's working on the car, and he paid like fifteen bucks for it at a flea market.
