I finally gave up on the "cable-free" desk dream after a trip to IKEA last weekend

I was at the IKEA in Brooklyn picking up some bins and I watched a guy spend 20 minutes zip-tying every cord under his desk into these neat little channels. Then his laptop died and he had to cut half of them loose to plug in his charger. Has anyone else just gone back to letting a few cables hang out in the open?

buy into for the gram" is literally it. I spent a whole weekend doing that zip tie channel thing under my desk, took the perfect angled photo with my cable management looking flawless, posted it, and then immediately had to undo half of it because I kept needing to move my laptop charger around. The whole setup only worked if nothing ever changed. Now I just let my charging cable hang off the side like a normal person and my desk lamp cord dangles. Way less stressful.

That minimalist desk setup is just one more thing we buy into for the gram.

The three monitors and the single plant on a white desk - how much did you actually use that setup before you took the photo, @drewgonzalez? I mean, did you rearrange your whole workflow just for that one shot?
