Am I the only one who thinks a tiny desk is actually better than a big one?

Everyone here seems to be upgrading to these massive 6-foot desks, but I downsized to a 40-inch one last month and my focus is way better. Has anyone else tried going smaller and actually liked it more?

@the_richard nailed it, same thing happened to me with my 42-inch desk.

Oh man, for real. I switched to a 36-inch desk a couple years back and it was a game changer. The key is to mount your monitor on an arm to save every inch of that surface area. I also got a little shelf for my keyboard and mouse so I can tuck them under the desk when I'm reading or sketching. You'll have to get creative with cable management too, but once you dial it in, you won't miss all that wasted space.

Man that's a good point and honestly I think there's something to be said about the whole "friction factor" that nobody really talks about. When I had a giant desk I'd spread everything out like a war room and just get lost in the clutter, but with a smaller surface you're forced to keep only what you actually need within arm's reach. It's like the physical boundaries train your brain to stay on task, and I notice I grab my phone way less too since there's no room for it to just sit there tempting me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you do, but for just basic computer work or writing I'm starting to think the tiny desk trend has some real merit behind it.
