Hot take: That 20 year old salon chair I inherited is better than any new one I've tried
Last month I finally replaced the old Belmont chair I got from a retiring stylist back in 2017. Figured it was time for something modern with better hydraulics. Spent $1,200 on a new Takara that looked sleek. Three weeks in and the pump started leaking, the base wobbles, and the upholstery already has a snag. The Belmont never gave me a single problem in 7 years. Am I the only one who thinks older salon equipment was built tougher?

Right?! They really dont make em like they used to. New stuff is all hype and plastic.

Right, "they really dont make em like they used to" is the truth. I got a power tool last year and it felt cheap right out of the box, plastic housing and all. Its a shame cause you pay more now for stuff that barely lasts a season compared to the old metal ones.

Yeah, guess the warranty covers the broken plastic but not the frustration of having to use it. Might as well start collecting antique tools from garage sales at this rate. You pay premium prices for something that feels like it belongs in a happy meal toy.
