Lol yeah that flag thing got me too! I went down a whole rabbit hole on the "missing stars" in space photos like @matthewmartin mentioned. Turns out the cameras just can't pick up the faint stars with the bright moon or earth in the shot, it's a camera exposure thing not a conspiracy.
