Can we talk about how I quit watching flat earth videos and started checking primary sources instead
Back in 2021 I was deep into flat earth YouTube, watching 3 hour videos every night, and I was totally convinced the globe was a lie. Then last summer I got into an argument with a guy at a picnic in Ohio about the Bedford level experiment, and he just handed me a copy of the original 1838 survey notes instead of yelling at me. Reading the actual document showed me the guy who ran it later admitted his method was flawed, which none of the videos ever mentioned. Now I go pull the raw source or the actual study before I believe any conspiracy claim, even the ones I want to be true. Has anyone else had a moment where checking the original doc killed a theory you were really into?

Had a buddy who swore up and down that some big local election was rigged, until a friend of his printed out the actual ballot count log from the county office. First page and he saw his whole theory was built on a number some guy made up on a podcast. Hit him hard but he came out way sharper for it.
