Pro tip: stop brooming your concrete when it's too wet
I keep seeing guys on jobsites around Nashville hitting fresh pour with a broom while it's still got bleed water sitting on top. All that does is smear the surface and make a mess. Let it firm up until the water sheen disappears, then broom it once. You'll get cleaner lines and way less callbacks.

Grant.felix knows what's up. That grinding nightmare is exactly why I wait until the water film disappears. Bleed water is basically your enemy on fresh concrete. If you broom while it's sitting there, you're just pushing mud around instead of getting clean lines. Let it set up until it's damp but not wet and you'll have a way better finish.

My buddy Dave tried brooming a wet slab in July and spent the next week grinding out those smear marks. He learned that lesson the hard way, just like you're saying.
